Nintype Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026
In short
- What you type never leaves your phone, with or without Full Access.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and nothing is sold.
- The only online part is Pyramid, the optional referral feature. If you use it, it keeps a random ID, who referred whom, and any profile details you choose to add.
- Purchases go through Apple. We never see your payment details.
The keyboard
Your typing, learned words, favourite and banned words, history, settings and word counts are stored only on your device. The keyboard and the Nintype app share them through an App Group, a folder on your phone that only Nintype can open. Importing from the original Nintype also happens on your device.
Full Access is optional. Nintype uses it only to share settings with the app and to see your upgrade purchase. Even with it on, nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Pyramid referrals (optional)
Only if you use them: showing your code, scanning someone else's, or setting up a profile. The server then stores:
- a random user ID. It and its secret are kept in your iCloud Keychain, so your Pyramid account moves to a new phone with you. No name, email or Apple ID;
- your user number, counting up as people join (a lower number means you joined earlier);
- who referred you and whom you referred, with dates, and the points and rank that come from that;
- if you choose them: a country flag, a team colour, a language flag and one poll emoji;
- a security key for each device you use it on (see below), with when it was added and last used;
- if you buy Pro: Apple's signed record of that purchase (transaction ID, product, date, refund status), which the server gets from Apple, used only for points. The purchase is tagged with a random number tied to your Pyramid account, so it only counts for that account.
To stop abuse, Apple's DeviceCheck and App Attest confirm that requests come from a real copy of Nintype on a real iPhone, and that a phone isn't referred twice. They identify the device, not you; App Attest's per-device keys are the security keys above. IP addresses are used briefly to limit request rates and aren't stored.
There are no names anywhere: everyone is just their user number, even to the developer. Shared leaderboards, in the app or elsewhere, show only user numbers, country flags, team colours and points. Language-flag and poll votes are counted to see what users want; shared results show totals only, never who picked what.
The data is stored with Cloudflare, in Oceania. "Delete my referral account" in the app removes your secret, device keys, profile, purchase records and pending referrals. We keep only an anonymous placeholder (its user number and referral links, so the people who referred you keep their points) and, if a purchase was refunded, Apple's transaction ID and refund date, so it can't be counted again.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Apple; we never see your card or Apple ID. The app checks your purchase with Apple to unlock Pro.
Crash reports and feedback
Nintype sends no automatic crash reports. If you email us or send TestFlight feedback, we receive what you send; for TestFlight, Apple passes on the feedback, screenshots and crash logs you choose to share.
Children
Nintype is rated 4+ and collects no personal information through the keyboard.
